Escaping to the death beat
What prompted Steve Miller to become an obituary writer? The September 11th terrorist attacks. In fact, he was in the South Tower working as a Wall Street technologist that day. Here’s his story.
I've recently started writing obits for our small mountain newspaper so I've immersed myself in all the literature. So many fine writers but Stephen Miller quickly became the frontrunner even before I read his personal story. when I read his coverage of the founder of Dunkin' Donuts, I shut the book in despair knowing I would never be that good. HIs Linda Lovelace was kind deeply moving. Long may he inform and entertain and usher out the departed in his remarkable style
