I'm not sure I follow about what the optimism in Steve's headline might be. The only thing remotely unusual is that he's 82 and has a fiancee.

thanks for your observation, trudi. i feared i was just too stupid to get the punchline.

"fiancee" in this case may be a euphemism for "live-in lover." and having one of those is not particularly unusual for an 82-year-old.
